Research

Isabelle Facon’s common thread of research concerns the place of the military factor in the foreign policy and security policy of post-Soviet Russia.
Dealing with Russian defense policy in its interactions with the international project of Russia and its internal situation, Isabelle Facon devoted many works to the restructuring of military tools, to civil-military relations and to the defense diplomacy of Russia. Developments within the industrial and technological defense base are another major research issue, as is the place of nuclear power in the power project and the security policy of the Russian Federation.
A central focus of his research on Russian foreign policy concerns the springs and effects of the rebalancing of this policy towards Asia, beyond the relationship with China, another structuring subject of attention.
